Covid19: Huge portion of the Coronavirus vaccine may be manufactured in India
A large portion of the covid19 vaccine is likely to be manufactured in India based on strong private sector partners. The comment is made by Mark Suzman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Suzman said in an interview that India is taking every step with the available resources that it can take to prevent the coronavirus epidemic. He said, 'I think with the available resources, India is taking all the measures that need to be done. We are all hopeful that some vaccines should be ready by next year.
We also hope that a large proportion of these vaccines can be manufactured in India based on strong private partners. ' He underscored the need for a global distribution similar to Covid19 vaccines.
He said, 'We believe that a uniform global distribution of vaccines is needed. So all we are doing is to ensure that developing countries have the same amount of vaccines available to rich countries as well as it is necessary for a global pandemic. ' He said that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working on multiple levels to counter Covid19.
Suzman said, 'We are providing support for research and development. We are working closely with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI), a leading partner in investing in potential vaccines. We have developed a Therapeutic Accelerator, which has raised capital of
$12.5 million to help discover treatments that can be effective against Covid19. '
The Foundation is also working towards the investigation of infection of Covid19. We are also part of a multilateral campaign called Kovacs, which includes India, which has been created for the development and delivery of vaccines on a large scale.
