Karan Johar apologizes to Madhur Bhandarkar for hurting him in title dispute, Madhur gives strong reply
Karan Johar apologized to Madhur Bhandarkar for the ongoing controversy over the title of Netflix's series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives releasing on November 27, to which Madhur responded. However, accepting Karan's apology, Madhur ended the title dispute.
Let me tell you, through social media, Madhur Bhandarkar had revealed that Karan has misused his title Bollywood Wives for his series. Karan had asked for this title from Madhur, but Madhur refused, so he used it by adding Fabulous Wives to the title.
On Thursday, Karan had cleared his position by writing a note to Madhur. Karan wrote in the note- "Dear Madhur, our relationship is very old and for many years we are part of this film industry. Over the years, I have always been a fan of your work and have always wished you well. I know you are upset with me. I apologize to you for the trouble you caused me in the last few weeks."
"I would like to clarify that we kept this new and different title The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives in keeping with its non-fiction reality franchise based format. Since our title is completely different, I did not think you would be suffering from it, for which I apologize."
"I would like to tell you that we are promoting the series on all social media platforms with the Fabulous Lives hashtag. This is a franchise title, which we will continue. I want to assure you that the format, nature, audience and the title of our series are completely different, which will not harm your work. I hope that we will leave it and move ahead and continue to create great content for our audience. I wish you all the best for your projects and look forward to seeing your work."
In response to Karan's apology and cleanliness, Madhur also wrote a note, in which he said- "Dear Karan, thank you for replying. It is a truly familiar industry and it operates on mutual trust and respect. When we break the rules, which we have made ourselves, it is not wise to call ourselves fraternity. In 2013, I did not think once before giving you the Gutka title, for which you requested me."
"That is why I expected the same honor when I refused to give my name to the registered title. Despite the rejection by our negotiations and trade organizations, you used it, it deeply hurt me. Real relationships do not work like this. But never mind, let's move forward. I accept your apology and leave the issue here. I also wish you all the best for future projects."
Let me tell you that earlier Madhur Bhandarkar had told via twitter that he has sent 5 notices to Karan through various film organizations, but no response was received.
